Custom AI Application Development

Build an AI application that helps people complete a defined task. We bring product discovery, interface design, application engineering, and AI integration together from the first prototype to ongoing operation.

Scope & Deliverables

What we can build with you

Choose the capabilities your project needs. We agree the deliverables and how they will be evaluated before implementation.

Product discovery and scope

Define the intended user, the task they need to complete, available data, and the smallest useful version of the application.

Prototypes and MVPs

Build a focused prototype or minimum viable product to test the experience, output quality, and running costs with representative tasks.

Application and interface design

Design how people provide context, inspect AI output, correct it, and decide what happens next, across the screens the product needs.

Backend and data services

Implement authentication, roles, data storage, application APIs, and integrations alongside the AI feature.

Assistants and bounded agents

Build assistants that answer questions or prepare work, and scope tool-using agents to specific permissions and approval steps when actions are required.

Evaluation and production delivery

Test task completion, access controls, error handling, and model behaviour, then deploy with monitoring, documentation, and an agreed support plan.

Illustrative Walkthrough

An AI-assisted project brief workspace

A sample internal application helps a team turn rough notes into a brief they can review, revise, and approve.

Illustrative scenario using sample data and prewritten outputs.

  1. Capture the brief

Sample notes: “Customers upload files, track requests, and receive updates.” A project owner creates a workspace and supplies the notes through a form.

  2. Review an editable draft

The application proposes sections for file upload, request status, and notifications. It flags file types, retention, access roles, and notification channels as open questions.

  3. Approve a version

The owner edits the draft, resolves questions, and approves a saved version. Team access and revision history are handled by the application. The draft is a planning aid, not a final quote.

The deliverable is a complete application experience: a usable interface, an AI-assisted task, controlled access, stored work, and a review process.

Technology & Connections

Designed around your systems

We use React or Next.js for web interfaces, React Native where a mobile experience is needed, and Node.js or Python/FastAPI for backend services. AI providers, storage, and hosting are selected for the application's actual requirements.

Connections we can assess

  • Web and mobile interfaces
  • Authentication and role-based access
  • Application databases and APIs
  • Model services, hosting, and monitoring

Specific integrations depend on available APIs, permissions, platform plans, and agreed data handling.

How We Work

A focused path from idea to operation

  1. Define the product

Agree the user journey, initial scope, business constraints, and success criteria.

  2. Test a prototype

Evaluate a working slice of the experience with sample tasks and user feedback.

  3. Build and evaluate

Develop the interface, backend, and AI feature; test permissions, outputs, and failure paths.

  4. Release and support

Deploy the agreed version, hand over documentation, and monitor product use and quality.

Questions before you start

Can we start with a prototype?

Yes. A focused prototype can test the main user journey and AI task before a larger build. We agree what it will demonstrate and what additional engineering would be needed for a production release.

What is included beyond the AI model?

The agreed scope can include discovery, interface design, authentication, data storage, application logic, integrations, evaluation, deployment, and handover. We define these deliverables explicitly because they determine how the product works for users.

Can you build a chatbot or an AI agent?

These can form part of the application when they suit the user task. A chatbot needs a defined information source and a way to handle missing answers. An agent also needs restricted tools, clear action permissions, and approval or recovery steps.

How are user data and access handled?

We define user roles, permitted data, retention needs, and provider processing requirements during discovery. Those requirements inform authentication, document access, logging, and what information is supplied to the model.

How long will development take and what will it cost?

The estimate depends on the product scope, data readiness, integrations, user roles, and evaluation requirements. We scope an initial release and give an estimate against its deliverables. Recurring model, hosting, storage, and support costs are considered separately.

Can the application evolve after launch?

Yes. Feedback, evaluation results, and observed running costs can guide later features. Handover and ongoing support are agreed as part of the engagement, including responsibility for model and infrastructure changes.
